We gather 11:00 Sunday morning at the Eastern Valley Community Center, intersection of Hudson Avenue and Sparks Avenue (map), Bessemer, Alabama.
We believe in the sovereignty of God, that salvation by faith in Christ is entirely by Godís power and His grace, favor that is not based on the merit of human works. Those God draws to faith in His Son are given a new heart by the Holy Spirit. The new heart, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, means that the believer has a new will obediently responsive to Godís Word, the Bible. Thus, genuine believers will bear more and more fruit as Christians. The Bible is authoritative and sufficient as a guide for those set apart for Godís purposes in this life and being prepared for the eternal life to come.
We believe that the church should be reformed according to Scripture, not shaped by human traditions and rules. Our worship is simple and limited to Biblically prescribed elements of worship. The preaching is expository. All of the elders lead in the various aspects of worship. Our attire is casual. An optional, potluck lunch provides an opportunity for fellowship and discussion.
The families of our congregation are encouraged to uphold Biblical spiritual leadership in the home, whether it is called family worship, family devotions, family religion or the family altar. This rest of this web site is devoted to Christians interested in more information on that emphasis:
